Frequently asked questions
What you ask us
before you try them on
This site is ZOCO's showcase: the whole collection is here, model by model and colour by colour. The sale, the fitting and the lenses are your optician's job. Below are the questions we get asked most.
01 Buying a pair of ZOCO
Can I buy the glasses here?
No. ZOCO is sold through opticians. On this site you see the whole collection, with its measurements and its colours, and once you have settled on a model you ask for it at your optician's: there they let you try it on, adjust it to your face and fit whatever lens you need.
Why are no prices shown?
Because the one selling you the glasses is the optician, and it is the optician who sets the price of the frame and of the lenses you need. Here we show the product; the quote comes from your optician, who is the one who knows which lens you need.
How do I know whether an optician has the model I like?
By calling ahead. In the stockist finder you have each optician's phone number, address and opening hours: search by town or by postcode, note down the model's reference —the name and the three or four letters of the colour, for example ANISE BGYL— and ask whether they have it or can order it for you.
My optician does not carry ZOCO. What do I do?
Tell them. Many opticians get to know us through a frame a customer asked them for. If they would rather talk to us directly, they can write to us from contact, with Professional as the subject.
02 The glasses
What are they made of?
Acetate, worked in layers. That is where the laminations come from: that edge of colour showing at the corner of the front and at the tip of the temple, and changing as the light catches it.
What comes with the glasses?
A case and a cloth.
What do the size and the millimetres on the product page mean?
On every product page you will see something like this: Cat-eye · Beige yellow · Size L · 54 mm.
- The size (S, M or L) groups frames by how big they are: S up to 49 mm, M from 50 to 52 and L from 53 upwards. It is the quick way to tell whether a pair will sit small or large on your face.
- The millimetres are the lens width: the width of each lens, which is exactly what decides the size. It is the number your optician needs in order to know whether that frame fits you.
Every frame carries its measurements engraved on the temple —lens width, bridge and temple—, so that you and your optician know exactly what you have in your hands.
Can I have my prescription fitted?
The frames in the prescription section are made for exactly that. Many sunglasses will take a prescription lens too, but it depends on the curvature of the front and on your prescription: your optician decides that with the frame in hand.
Which collections are there?
Five families, and each one is named after the things that inspired it: Spices (spices, sunglasses), Coins (coins, the only one that comes in both sun and prescription), Ceramics (ceramics and tableware, prescription) and Fabrics and Fabrics 2.0 (textiles, prescription).
On the catalogue pages you can filter by collection, as well as by shape, lens colour, lens width and size. We tell you the whole story here.
How do I look after them?
Lukewarm water and a drop of mild soap, then dry them with the cloth. No glass cleaner and no alcohol. Keep them in the case with the lenses facing up and do not leave them inside the car in the sun: heat is what punishes acetate and lens coatings most.
If you notice them slipping or rubbing behind your ear, drop in at your optician's: adjusting the temples is a one-minute job.
03 If something goes wrong
I have broken a pair of ZOCO. Who do I turn to?
The optician where you bought them. There they can see the break, they know what can be repaired on the spot, and they are the ones who take it up with us if it comes to that.
How do I know my glasses are genuine?
Because they are bought at an optician's: that is our only channel. On top of that, every frame carries its measurements engraved on the temple and comes with its case and its cloth.
